Open a can of feng shui on that rental property.

Is feng shui just a lot of superstitious hocus-pocus or is there something to it? I can almost guarantee you’re not going to find the final answer to that within these modest sentences, but think about this – the idea/art/science (whatever you want to call it) has been around for 3,000-4,000 years. How many ideas last that long without having a little substance to back them up?

What is feng shui? In simple terms, it can be defined as the art of placement. More specifically, it is the art of placement and arrangement of objects to create a positive flow of energy when you walk into a room. The goal is to eliminate clutter. Clutter distracts. Clutter creates bad stimuli on both a conscious and sub-conscious level.

If you really interested in this topic, refer back to Jason’s Creating Wealth podcast #94 and listen to his interview with Steve Kodad. Very interesting. Why should you, as a rental property owner, be concerned with feng shui? After all, you’re not planning on selling your real estate any time soon. Isn’t feng shui just for when you’re going to sell?

Not so fast. You may not be technically selling your property but every time a prospective tenant walks into your rental property you ARE selling to him/her. You’re hoping they take enough of a positive impression away to convince them that this is the one they want to rent. So you are selling, aren’t you? And feng shui might be the very thing to help with that.

We’ll get into a little more depth on the subject next time.
