Anatomy of a political lie.

Let’s wander a bit off the beaten path of real estate investing today and ponder the topic of political lies. Not to belabor any recently successful presidential campaigns, but what exactly goes on in the mind of a politician as he swears to the sky above day after day on the heated campaign trail he will not raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000?

How does he get around this little moral issue when it’s abundantly clear he MUST raise taxes on EVERYONE and their pet squirrel to fund his bailout program for each industry in America, past, present, and future? I’m still waiting for the covered wagon or woolly mammoth cartel lobby to show up and demand a bailout for the extinct also.

How about we eavesdrop on the Obama morning briefing?

Obama: “Gentlemen, we need more bailout money. How can we tax people making less than $250,000 without seeming to do so? By the way – remember, I promised I wouldn’t.”

Henchman #1 (wildly waving his hand for attention): “Oh, oh, I know, I know!

Obama (taking a serious career risk by going off teleprompter): “Yes?”

Henchman #1: “Raise taxes on cigarettes! People are addicted. They have to pay. Even the poor ones.

Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to Political Treachery 101. Class is now in session. See how easy it is to circumvent a campaign promise?
