More about the demand for rental property.

We recently spoke about the forces driving the rent market to try and allay fears for real estate investors worried about the demand drying up. Here are a few more thoughts on the matter. Experts say that in the next 34 years the United States will add another 100 million people. By 2050, we could be pushing near a population of 438 million.

Think the check out line at Wal-Mart is crowded now? Just wait. All these new heads are going to need a place to lay down and sleep at night. On the global level population is expected to swell from 6.1 billion to 9.5 billion by 2050. That’s just around the corner, folks. A blink of an eye in historical terms.

This ever-growing population base will be consuming commodities like energy, lumber, petroleum products, glass, steel, copper wire. Guess what your investment property is built from? These very same commodities. You do realize you’re investing in a packaged commodity right? As Jason likes to say, “Don’t wait to buy real estate. Buy real estate and then wait.”

These days that bit of wisdom is more true than ever. You can be on the outside looking in as the population explodes around you, or you can be holding the key to a perpetual ATM machine in you real estate portfolio.

Your choice.
