Jason Hartman recently interviewed filmmaker James West on The Creating Wealth Show #104. If you missed it, take some time to give it a listen, especially if you still believe American politicians and bankers are playing a straight system. The real way the system works has been called “The Crime of the Century” by Mr. West.
West has documented a pattern of behavior by banks and other elites to systematically strip average Americans of their wealth and assets. In West’s view, it goes something like this. At the end, ask yourself if any of this sounds familiar.
The first step of the crime is to flood the market with easy credit. Show up with a pulse and you’ll probably be able to get a loan. Consumerism goes crazy. But eventually this leads to a whole bunch of dollars chasing after a limited supply of goods and services. Prices of land, stocks, and other goods rise as everyone piles into the buying frenzy.
At some point, the banks decide to reverse the process and yank the easy credit. Fewer people are able to qualify for loans and spending goes down. Asset prices fall and banks/elites swoop in to buy the assets at rock bottom prices.
In 1907 it happened almost exactly as it’s happening today.
