This is a road map to failure and frustration. And countless ambitious individuals sadly fall down that path due to a lack of discipline and unwillingness to follow proven routines.
On the real estate front, we stress the importance of investing in linear markets.
Let’s not forget that linear real estate markets are those whose prices remain steady during a period of years. They tend to be located in Middle America i.e. the “flyover states.”
These markets are not the sexiest, but when you’re an income property investor, the keys to consistent cash flows lies in the diamonds rough.
By contrast, cyclical real estate markets are those that fluctuate widely up and down in price. They’re mostly located in major urban areas such as Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.
These markets receive most of the media coverage and they’re where most people try to strike it rich at, with little success.
We should remember that whatever receives lots of media hype is often not lucrative. It often pays to be a contrarian on these matters.
That’s the type of mindset you should have if you want to succeed in this field.
