What’s the best blogging software?

Well, that’s sort of a difficult question, isn’t it? Sort of like asking which child is your favorite. But the answer could be crucial if you plan on blogging for money and would like to eventually turn it into your full time gig.

Yes, it can be done. There are many examples of guys and gals pulling in tens of thousands of dollars per month with nothing more than a blog. But the first question you’ve got to ask yourself is which blogging platform should I use?

Five years ago, the answer might have been different. Blogging was just making itself known in the greater public consciousness and dozens of companies were promoting their own platform.

Let’s step aside for a moment here – in case you’re not familiar with the term, a blogging platform is simply the computer application that works in the background to hold your blog posts and exhibit them all on a nice, pretty little website.

But like we were saying, five years ago there were dozens of companies vying for market share in the blog world. Things have shaken out a bit and we’re left with two basic choices. That’s not exactly true. There are still dozens of choices but almost 75% of bloggers use one of the following two platforms.

WordPress
Wordpress comes in a free version that has some bothersome restrictions of you’re trying to make money. A better choice is to buy your own domain name and hosting plan, then install WordPress on it so you can do whatever you want.

Blogger
If you don’t want to pay for a domain and hosting, you should check out Blogger. This free program lets you do absolutely anything you like as far as monetizing your blog.

There you go. Have fun!
