E-Commerce Sales Tips

E-commerce, or electronic commerce, is a type of business performed online by means of trading products or services using the Internet or other computer networks. E-commerce allows businesses and consumers the opportunity to grow their businesses around the world and be available for consumers at the click of a button. The following four E-commerce sales tips will help increase traffic for any business just starting an E-Commerce site or those shops that are already open and looking for tips on generating more wealth.

Extend your products in more than one category.

When consumers shop for an item they’re not always looking in the same category you’re thinking of selling, so spread your items in several categories that make sense to target a broader audience.  For example, if you’re selling a blender then upload that product in both household items and appliances. The more exposure that product has on your site, the better chances you will reach the right consumer.

Upload a great image for your products.

Consumers are more likely to filter through products based off the photo and appearance of product, rather than read a description on why this product is so great. Of course consumers will eventually read that description, but make that first impression good with an image to back up it’s true value.

Create a title and description that is short and to the point.

When selling a product the headline should be no more than 8 words. Consumers will typically stop reading headlines any longer, and the description should be clear and filled with details about the product. Keep the sentences short; writing only 15 to 20 words per line, and holding summaries under 30 words and paragraphs to 40-70 words. This is keep consumers attention and focus on the content they are looking for when deciding to make a purchase.

Necessities of a shopping cart.

Make sure your shopping cart is in the same location and on every page. Offer all types of payments to reach all types of consumers. You can easily sign up for a business PayPal account to help with credit card payments, but keep in mind they do take a transaction fee. (Once your E-commerce store generating a steady flow of income you might want to consider a merchant account.)

Once the shopping cart is in place, it’s time to upsell. As shoppers continue their checkout process suggest other items that will compliment their purchase. Use images with pop-up phrases like, “You may also like these products…” or “People who purchased this item also purchased these items…” This is a great time to collect shopper’s information.

Finally, require their name and email address to send a receipt and keep on file for your records of customers and purchases, along with future email marketing opportunities.
